Throughout my career, I've recruited some outstanding individuals. Today, amidst mixed economic signals - job surpluses, layoffs, and and general frustration from those who are actually spending days and nights sending resumes - I've seen a lot of just as talented professionals struggle recently due to changing practices.

Fast-forward to a few months ago, during a virtual networking event on Zoom, I had an epiphany. I realized the power of personal connections and the untapped potential for job seekers to stand out in a competitive market. The idea emerged: hosting events spotlighting job seekers via Zoom, sharing skills directly with hiring managers, recruiters, and others. With a small budget and trusted allies, I set out to create this platform.

The vision: Empower job seekers through dynamic Zoom sessions, leaving a lasting impression on employers. Build a site that bridges the unemployed with hiring managers, harnessing Zoom's magic. It's a tale of turning challenges into opportunities, showcasing how human connections alter lives. We're excited to hear the stories of those who share their success with us….

What Do We do and Why?

It’s quite simple - Many of you have already spent countless hours networking on LinkedIn, sent resumes until you lost count, and tried to game the infamous ATS! So many times you found the perfect job description, crafted the perfect resume, and then 3 weeks later a ding in your email box and you read an automatic reply that reads “…. you are awesome but not really….”

Many hiring managers and talent pros have put a post on LinkedIn and received 200 applications and sometimes only a handful of candidates are qualified!

At Spotlight Cafe, we have not revolutionized job hunting. We have just created one more channel where job seekers and hiring managers can connect.

    Ideal person will know much more than the founder about Instagram, Twitter, getting “followers”, digital metrics, and marketing. Looking for a part-timer who might enjoy being a part of something fun, flexible, and noteworthy for your future!

    Sorry that the founder does not know whether the role is appropriately “Host/Hostess” so please forgive him (and correct him). Looking for part time career enthusiasts with some video presence, able to carry on and facilitate interviews, use their sense of humor, and have some fun out of a part time gig! The pay is probably per event but just think of the exposure you will get - 4 times the fame of what Warhol said!
